SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The Savannah metro area’s job market continues to reach new milestones, with the latest data from the Georgia Department of Labor showing record highs in both the labor force and employment in the month of May.
The department reported the three-county Savannah metropolitan statistical area reached all-time highs in May, with a labor force of 220,823 and 214,930 employed residents. The region also recorded 216,700 jobs. The unemployment rate was 2.7%, up three-tenths of a percentage point from April but down from 2.8% a year ago.
