TOLEDO, Ohio — A former star wide receiver for the University of Toledo is facing assault and domestic violence charges related to an incident near campus last summer.
Junior Vandeross, whose legal name is Jessie, was arrested on July 4, 2025, after police were called to the Edge 1120 apartments at Dorr and Westwood. According to police reports, Vandeross is accused of knowingly causing harm to the mother of his child by putting his hands around her neck and shoving her into a wall while she was holding their newborn.
He was charged with assault and domestic violence, both first-degree misdemeanors. After the charges were originally filed last summer, those docket entries show numerous continuances and a pending hearing to seal the case records.
