A night at Hatcher Pass ended in a shooting death. Now an 18-year-old faces murder charges

WASILLA, Alaska (KTUU) – A 19-year-old Wasilla man was shot in the head and killed at Hatcher Pass Tuesday evening, according to the Alaska State Troopers, and an 18-year-old is being charged with his murder.

Charging documents state that around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, the Alaska State Troopers were notified of a dead person on a trail in Hatcher Pass. The dead man, identified as Jaxon Williams, was found lying at the base of a large boulder.

Around 1:55 a.m. Thursday, a man called the troopers and said Gary Reddig, a friend of his, called him and told him he shot someone in the head at Hatcher Pass, charging documents claim. Reddig was found and detained around 2:34 p.m.

During an interview with the Troopers, Reddig said he and Williams drove to Hatcher Pass Tuesday night at Williams’s request. Shortly after they arrived, Williams, who had been drinking heavily, started accusing Reddig of having sex with his girlfriend…
