EVANSVILLE — Construction on the approach roadways and bridges for the Interstate 69 Ohio River Crossing is entering its final months, with work on Section 3 expected to wrap up later this year after beginning in fall 2024.
The project includes three new approach bridges and connecting roadways in Evansville that will provide all-weather access for construction of the future I-69 bridge across the Ohio River. Because much of the area lies within a flood plain, the elevated roadways are intended to reduce delays caused by high water during construction of the main river crossing.
Crews are currently building the southbound portions of the approach bridges, which will serve as construction access. The northbound lanes will be added during Section 2 of the project…
