TUSCUMBIA, Ala. (WHNT) — A historic production honoring Helen Keller is making history of its own this year.
Six-year-old Ruby Sparks has become the youngest actor to portray Helen Keller in “The Miracle Worker,” performed annually behind Keller’s birthplace. She is also the first actor in the role to have hearing loss, adding a new layer of authenticity to the 65th annual production.

“I didn’t know I was going to get picked; I thought somebody else was going to get picked,” Ruby said. “I’m the youngest to play in ‘The Miracle Worker.’ I’m six years old, and I have hearing loss.”
