CPRD Board Votes to Allow Bikes on Rilee Park

NEWBERG, Ore. — On Thursday night, after hours of public comment and deliberation — preceded by months of lead-up discussion and a consultant report — the Chehalem Parks and Recreation District board voted 3-2 in favor of allowing mountain biking at Bob & Crystal Rilee Park within 90 days. Biking activities are not allowed at the park until CPRD announces it’s permitted.

The motion came after discussion of a report from California-based C2 Consulting, which specializes in mountain biking facility development. The CPRD board voted in February to hire C2 Consulting for $10,000 to determine which properties within CPRD’s district would be best suited to host biking facilities, following up on board direction from 2023 when the board banned biking at Bob & Crystal Rilee Park but said it would find a suitable location for mountain biking in the future.
