CARBON COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — An unknown number of people were sent to nearby hospitals after county officials say multiple crashes happened on the Turnpike on Saturday.
Carbon County officials confirmed crews were called just before 2:30 p.m. Saturday to mile marker 83.1 on Interstate 476 northbound, just a few miles away from the Hickory Run Service Plaza, after multiple reported crashes.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) says that there were lane closures in the area and drivers were warned of possible delays.
