A water main break is impacting a large part of a New Orleans East neighborhood and has prompted a precautionary boil water advisory.
According to the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans, crews are repairing a broken 12-inch valve that has left 60 customers without water, with the cause still unknown and no estimate yet on when service will be restored.
The areas impacted include:
- Hayne Boulevard from Paris Road to Vanderkloot Avenue
- Paris Road from Hayne Boulevard to Interstate 10 Service Road
- I-10 Service Road from Paris Road to Bundy Road
- Bundy Road/Vanderkloot Avenue from I-10 Service Road to Hayne Boulevard
- Entire Oak Island Subdivision
Water pressure in this area fell below 20 pounds per square inch (psi) due to a water main break that is impacting a large part of the neighborhood.
