Flash flooding hits Caldwell after intense storm; officials urge caution on roads, power l

CALDWELL, Idaho (CBS2) — A fast-moving storm dumped heavy rain on Caldwell in a short period of time, flooding streets, backing up storm drains and knocking down tree limbs, with other storm-related problems reported across the community.

As cleanup continued today, residents were urged to avoid flooded roadways because water depth can be deceiving and conditions beneath the surface may be damaged or unsafe. People were also warned to stay away from downed power lines and to assume any line is energized. Residents were told not to touch power lines, drive over them or try to move them, and to report them immediately.

Officials also asked the public to report roadway hazards such as downed trees, large debris and flooding to Canyon County Dispatch at 208-454-7531. Anyone facing an immediate danger to life or property was told to call 911…
