Built by Fincantieri Marinette Marine in Wisconsin and homeported in Florida, the USS Marinette is designed for multi-mission surface warfare and mine countermeasures in shallow coastal environments. Her visit will mark the first time that a major active-duty Navy ship has stopped at the port in more than 30 years.

The vessel will dock at the Port of Albany-Rensselaer as part of the United States of America’s 250th anniversary. The U.S. Navy, which celebrated its own 250th birthday last year, is hosting port calls and community outreach engagements throughout the nation as part of the semiquincentennial.
