Alabama’s Jackson Hospital Was Two Hours From Announcing Its Closure — Then Blue Cross Made a Move at 9 PM

Jackson Hospital had scheduled a 2 p.m. press conference for June 26. The hospital’s board had set June 25 as the hard deadline for reaching a deal with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. No deal, no hospital. The closure announcement was coming.
