Car goes over wall on Route 20, lands on roof in woods

SHREWSBURY — A driver escaped without injury overnight after a car went off Route 20 and over a retention wall, according to the Shrewsbury Fire Department.

The crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. on Route 20 at Stoney Hill Road. Shrewsbury police, Shrewsbury Fire Department Engine 3 and Worcester E.M.S. responded to the scene.

According to the Fire Department, the driver was trying to avoid hitting a deer when the car left the road, went over a 25- to 30-foot retention wall and landed on its roof deep into the wood line…
