One student represents Texhoma on the big stage

TEXHOMA, Okla. (KAMR/KCIT) — The National Speech and Debate Tournament is an annual competition that brings over 7,000 students and 1,500 schools. Texhoma was represented on this stage and even won big.

Blake McGlasson, a soon-to-be senior at Texhoma High School, was able to bring the talent that lives in the Panhandle to the world during his portion of the competition.

“It was pretty difficult. I mean, I had to memorize two pieces because I brought a duo to the national competition with my partner, Luke. We were only able to make it to the top 60. So I had to participate in supplemental events. So that’s what I did my poetry in, which I was most successful in,” added McGlasson. “It was really fun, but it was also really hard at the same time.”

Not only was McGlasson able to show off the Panhandle, but he also showcased his Native American heritage…
