Lafayette race car driver turned national champion

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — Camryn Reed, a professional race car driver from Lafayette, made history by becoming the first female and youngest driver to win the Formula Car National Championship in the U.S.

Reed’s passion for racing began at age 9 after trying a friend’s go-kart following a soccer tournament in Moore Park.

“We had just wrapped up a tournament there and you wanted to go say hi to some of his buddies in the back. And yeah, one of them let me let me try out their son’s go kart and got hooked from there. Just the adrenaline rush,” Reed said…
