WRIGHTSVILLE, Pa. — For the first time in 13 years, twenty-six bridge piers from the old Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge have lit up the night sky.
Hundreds of people gathered along the Susquehanna River on Sunday night to watch the lighting of the old Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge piers to close out Riverfest 2026. The event commemorates the 1863 burning of the bridge by Union soldiers to prevent Confederate forces from entering Lancaster County, helping set the stage for the Battle of Gettysburg.
