Syracuse, N.Y. — Taphouse on Walton, the bar that replaced the longtime Blue Tusk in Syracuse’s Armory Square, has permanently closed.
The bar at 165 Walton St. served its final customers a week ago. By Sunday, the restaurant had been emptied, with furniture removed, kitchen appliances uninstalled, the draft beer system ripped out from behind the bar and televisions stripped off the walls. Its Google business listing now identifies the restaurant as permanently closed.
The closure comes just over two years after Taphouse opened in March 2024 following an ambitious renovation of the former Blue Tusk space, which had sat vacant since the beloved craft beer bar closed in 2021 after a landlord-tenant dispute.
The Taphouse was opened by local restaurateurs Kyle Mastropietro, Randall Hon and Srinivas “Sinu” Paidy. Mastropietro later left the business, leaving Hon and Paidy as owners…
