Madison’s two new area plans would require state cooperation

Madison’s City Council has unanimously approved two new area plans, but with a major question mark at the center of its vision for the southeast and some uncertainty in the southwest because of pending state transportation decisions.

With the approval of the two documents — meant to guide decisions around growth, development, infrastructure, business, programs and investment — the city has now completed plans for four of the 12 areas, with planning for downtown Madison underway…
