RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) – Dozens of people who stored belongings at Inside Out Storage in Madison County lost items when floodwaters swept through the facility Saturday. For Vincent Pickens, the loss was more than material — it included everything he had left of his late girlfriend, Brenda.
Pickens said different housing circumstances led him to place everything he owned in a storage unit at the facility several years ago. After Saturday’s flood, he returned to the site to assess what could be salvaged.
‘Devastating’ loss
“This is other people’s units that’s got into here and its washed out through the back,” Pickens said. “I mean I had tools, rakes, and shovels and couches, chairs, kitchen table and chairs, dressers, book shelves, plus some of her stuff and some of her son’s stuff that was in here.”
