RIDOT video shows train-stopping Route 10 parapet collapse

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Department of Transportation has released new video showing the Friday, April 24, parapet collapse that brought train service between New York and Boston to a screeching halt.

As 12 News reported back in April, a piece of the on-ramp from Route 10 North to I-95 North, along with part of the barrier for the electrification of the tracks, became detached and landed on the tracks below.

RIDOT Engineer John Preiss explained that crews had to shut off electricity to the area in order to perform an inspection and clean off the overpass before they could remove the debris from the tracks…
