Black Bear Sightings Continue in Grovetown as Residents Capture Video Footage

Someone called the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office just past midnight Thursday. A bear might be wandering through the woods on the 200 block of Flowing Wells Road in Grovetown. A deputy arrived around 12:20 a.m. but couldn’t locate it.

Officials sent the information to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. This Thursday morning report came days after resident Anthony Jowers spotted a black bear strolling through his backyard between Red Bud Drive and Sugar Creek Drive near Lewiston Road around 3 a.m. on June 20.

Jowers said his backyard cameras caught the creature approaching a salt lick before wandering to a bird feeder. The bear toppled it and devoured the birdseed…
