Kern County firefighters had to battle three grass fires between Taft and Maricopa that broke out within an hour of each other Sunday afternoon.
The first fire, near the Taft Manufacturing plant on Petroleum Club Road, broke out just after 2:30 p.m.. It was the smallest of the three and burned less than a half-acre.
