LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio (WTVG) – The Toledo-Lucas County Health Department (TLCHD) has confirmed cases of cyclosporiasis, an intestinal illness caused by a parasite called Cyclospora cayetanensis.
People can become infected by eating food or drinking water contaminated by feces containing the parasite. The illness is commonly found in developing countries. In the U.S., cases are often linked to types of fresh produce, especially in the summer, health officials said.
