LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — Lafayette Police Department Sr. Cpl. Ken Handy stopped by MidDay with Darla to address a recent increase in vehicle burglaries across the city, urging residents to lock their cars and avoid confronting suspects.
“We’re seeing an increase right now due to the community,” he said. It’s civilians not locking their doors at this point in time. In the month of May, we had 80 total vehicles, a little bit more than 80, in which their vehicles were left unlocked, and they were burglarized, subsequently.”
