OHIO — As the heat wave in Ohio continues, with heat index values reaching into the 100s this week, several Ohio cities are urging residents to reduce their energy usage to help ease the burden on power grids.
Late Wednesday, more than 18,000 people lost power on the west side of Cleveland, and much of the power wasn’t restored until 9 p.m. or later as temperatures remained in the high 80s to low 90s.
To help maintain the power, cities like Cuyahoga Falls issued a “Power Shavings Alert,” encouraging residents to take small steps to help prevent power outages in the area. The Power Shavings Alert is in effect Wednesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., otherwise known as peak energy usage hours…
