A Charlotte man is facing federal charges for allegedly orchestrating a scheme to defraud Medicaid of hundreds of thousands of dollars by submitting false claims for mental health services.
The defendant, Ronnie Lorenzo Robinson Jr., 56, was charged with health care fraud, making false statements relating to health care matters, and aggravated identity theft, Russ Ferguson, the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina, announced June 23.
The charges are part of the larger federal effort to root out health care fraud. Medicaid, run jointly by state and federal governments, provides free or low-cost health insurance to millions of low-income adults, children, pregnant women, elderly adults and people with disabilities…
