BOWLING GREEN — Inmates at the Wood County Jail have the opportunity to earn green thumbs while serving time.
For two decades, the Wood County Jail has introduced gardening to inmates through a garden at the facility, with some even vowing to continue growing the skill when they have served their sentences, said Wood County Sheriff’s Deputy Lindsey Knapp, who’s in charge of the program.
“The ones that work with me out there, you can tell they get a sense of pride,” she said. “The fresh air, working with their hands, having a job and a purpose.”…
