DALHART, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas Department of Transportation Amarillo District announced that contractor Fuller & Sons Construction will begin work on a safety improvement project at the intersection of US 54 and Chamberlain Road.
According to TxDOT officials, the work will begin on July 6 and is located northeast of Dalhart. Officials note that the project will include constructing a left-turn lane and a hot-mix asphalt overlay to improve safety and enable easier mobility.
TxDOT noted that the project is expected to be completed by spring 2026 and drivers can expect various lane closures in the area. Officials noted that TxDOT appreciates the public’s patience as they work to “deliver quality” and a “safe product.”

TxDOT also notes to drive with caution and reduce speed through all work zones. Officials stated that all projects are subject to change due to “weather, emergency work, and other unexpected events.”
