Sheriff’s office investigating violent robbery, assault on Boulder Creek Trail

DENVER (KDVR) — The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a violent robbery and assault that occurred on Boulder Creek Trail on Monday, according to a press release from the agency on Wednesday.

Investigators said a 73-year-old man was attacked while hiking in the 40000 block of Boulder Canyon Drive.

The victim was reportedly hiking down the Boulder Creek Trail around sunset when he was approached by a man, who accused him of stealing a marijuana joint belonging to the suspect’s girlfriend.

Investigators said that earlier on the trail, the victim asked the girlfriend for a drag of the joint, which she agreed to, before he returned the joint and returned to his hike. The suspect followed the man down the trail and repeatedly confronted him about the joint. The victim walked toward his vehicle parked near Boulder Canyon and Canon Park Drive when he was struck from behind, causing him to lose consciousness…
