DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Miami Valley Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information which leads to an arrest and conviction over local utility wire theft.
According to officials, utility wire theft can disrupt 911, public transit / other essential services and create safety risks. Previously, the Dayton Police Department shared the following after a spike in reported wire theft this April.

“If you see someone using a ladder or tampering with utility lines, poles, or equipment — especially from an unmarked vehicle — do not assume it is legitimate. Call the police right away. Officers will respond and verify the situation,” wrote the DPD. “We need the community’s help to prevent these crimes.
