Lancaster city firefighters see increase in staffing after 2024 cuts

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — After two years of a concerning staffing shortage implemented in 2024, Lancaster City Professional Firefighters will finally increase its minimum staff levels back to 13, effective Wednesday.

Lancaster Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 319, announced in 2024 that its staffing would be reduced from 13 to 11 on-duty firefighters, inciting backlash from firefighters.
