HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Good Thursday morning. Temperatures are very warm again as we start off the day in the low to middle 70s under generally fair skies.
A few sprinkles or pockets of drizzle are possible through mid-morning. The heavy rainfall yesterday and high humidity this morning has allowed some pockets of fog to develop early this morning. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for all North Alabama and Middle Tennessee counties through 7:00 PM CDT. The heat index this afternoon will range from 105 to 112 degrees. This is potentially dangerous heat and humidity, practice heat safety, stay hydrated and try to avoid any strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day.
Today is partly cloudy with high temperatures quickly jumping into the middle 90s by the afternoon. Today does bring the potential of seeing widely scattered downpours and storms developing during the afternoon and evening timeframe, especially favoring locations over parts of Northeast Alabama and Middle Tennessee. These storms can be stronger in nature with concerns of damaging straight-line wind gusts, hail and frequent lightning.
