COMSTOCK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — The Comstock Township parks director said a threat that prompted Robert Morris Park to close last weekend was just one of several recent concerning instances.
A sign at the entrance to Robert Morris Park on E H Avenue, which has access to Campbell Lake, instructs visitors to proceed to entrance gate for admission. It costs $5 for a day pass.
Parks and Recreation Director Kate Bush said the threat came after two people in a car first harassed and bullied a staff member in the entrance gate one day. When visiting the park again the next day, she said, they wanted to know if they would have to buy another pass if they left and returned within the same day. The attendant told them they would not have to pay twice in the same day. They did leave, came back about half an hour later and asked if they were OK to enter. The attendant said yes.
“The (people in the) car had said something to the effect of, ‘Good, otherwise I was going to blow your head off.’ And then the car just drove on in…” Bush said, becoming emotional. “Just left the guard attendant kind of standing there, shocked.”…
