Ohio River boaters warned of hidden debris ahead of 4th of July weekend

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — If you’re planning to spend the Fourth of July weekend on the Ohio River, officials said what you can’t see in the water could be the biggest danger.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is warning boaters to be on the lookout for debris left behind by last weekend’s flooding. The agency shared patrol video showing logs, branches and other objects floating in the river that could cause serious crashes or damage boats.

Deputies said even boaters traveling at slower speeds can strike hidden debris, making extra caution essential during one of the busiest weekends of the year on the water…
