Elderly navy veteran attacked at Nashville gas station, police say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Metro Nashville police are asking for the public’s help identifying the person accused of assaulting an 84-year-old man outside a gas station on Shelby Avenue last month.

Dallas Mathis, an Army veteran, said he was attacked around 7 p.m. June 24 after driving his 40-year-old granddaughter to the gas station so she could see someone.

According to Metro police, the woman walked over to a black four-door sedan and began talking with the two people inside. Investigators said a verbal argument followed over money the woman allegedly owed.
