INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) – A 25-foot inflatable Godzilla is back at Godzilla’s Fireworks in Independence just in time for the Fourth of July. The owners said someone stole the landmark last month.
The towering inflatable has greeted customers outside the fireworks stand for nearly 20 years, and owners said they worried they wouldn’t be able to afford a replacement. On July 2, they confirmed on social media that Godzilla had been recovered and returned.
“When Godzilla disappeared, we weren’t sure what would happen,” the owners wrote. “What followed was something we’ll never forget. Our community showed up. You shared our posts. You kept an eye out. You sent messages, tips, and words of encouragement. Friends, customers, neighbors, and local news outlets all became part of the search.”…
