Louisiana suspends insurance rules for parishes impacted by Tropical Storm Arthur

BATON ROUGE, La. (KALB) – Louisiana Department of Insurance Commissioner Tim Temple announced Thursday, July 2, that his office has suspended a number of insurance laws that would impact policy holders affected by Tropical Storm Arthur.

Emergency Rule 50 (ER50) will remain in effect until July 22, unless ended early by the the commissioner of insurance. The suspended laws are related to cancellation, termination, non-renewal, non-reinstatement, premium payments and claim filings.

ER50 applies to policy holders in seven parishes:

  • Avoyelles Parish
  • Lafourche Parish
  • Point Coupee Parish
  • Rapides Parish
  • St. Landry Parish
  • St. Tammany Parish
  • Terrebonne Parish
