Northeast Georgia ready for historic Fourth of July celebrations

Communities across Northeast Georgia are preparing for Independence Day celebrations this weekend, with fireworks, parades, lake events and hometown traditions taking center stage as the nation marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

From Cleveland’s America 250 observance in White County to large-scale fireworks over Lake Lanier and long-running lake traditions in Rabun County, officials say this year’s celebrations carry added significance as residents reflect on the country’s founding while gathering for familiar community events.

Now Georgia reporters and photographers will be stationed across the region throughout the holiday weekend, covering celebrations in Cleveland, Hall, Rabun and Habersham counties.

Cleveland leads America 250 observance

In White County, Cleveland will host its Independence Day celebration Saturday at Freedom Park and downtown, with a full day of activities tied to the America 250 observance.

Festivities begin at 8 a.m. with the Run for Freedom 5K, followed by the White County Farmers Market and vendor activities at Freedom Park from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m…
