SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The Fourth of July weekend is just around the corner, and while most are prepping for cookouts and fireworks shows around the city, Syracuse Police Department officers are prepping in a different way.
Syracuse Police Sgt. Tom Blake talked to NewsChannel 9 | LocalSYR.com on Thursday about how he and his team plan for big holidays such as Independence Day.
He said, “We plan well in advance for this, and we do have what we call summer deployment. So, there will be folks out here throughout the Fourth of July weekend and doing additional measures to make sure everybody’s having a safe and enjoyable weekend.”
“We’re gonna be looking for DWIs. We’re gonna be looking for those fireworks. We’re gonna be in high-populated areas and just a higher level just to make sure that everybody’s being safe and not infringe on anybody else’s rights to go out and enjoy their weekend,” Blake added…
