Community Resource Center opens cooling center ahead of hot holiday weekend

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — In response to the hot weather persisting throughout the weekend, the Community Resource Center will be opening their doors to serve as a cooling shelter for those in the community living without reliable ways to stay cool.

According to the center, their location at 3947 Whipper Barony Lane will be opening as a cooling center from July 4 through July 10.

Throughout the summer officials advise checking on people, pets and event plants during times of high heat. Newborns, the elderly, pregnant women, and those with chronic illnesses are more susceptible to heat stroke.
