Newport Beach resident presents $48,000 check to NBPD

On Tuesday, June 30, 97-year-old Newport Beach resident Dotty McDonald, a long-time Newport Beach Police Department (NBPD) volunteer, presented NBPD Chief Dave Miner and police personnel with a $48,000 check at the Santa Barbara Drive headquarters. Money was raised toward gift cards for police officers’ meals, as a way of thanking them for their service and keeping our community safe.

This is the 12th year McDonald has done this, and every year she beats the previous year’s earnings. The donations are from her friends, and McDonald thanks each of them with a personal thank-you letter.
