Fourmile Creek flooding disrupts roadways, businesses in Central Iowa

CENTRAL IOWA — Heavy overnight rains are causing the Fourmile Creek to flood, impacting roadways and a few businesses in the area.

Flooding at Fourmile Creek also caused a temporary closure of the northbound lanes on Interstate 35 between 36th Street and 126th Avenue due to water on the roadway. According to the DOT, the closure began just before 2 a.m. Friday and reopened around 8 a.m.

At 10 a.m., the Des Moines Police Department shared that the bridges and roads over Fourmile Creek at Hubbell Avenue, E. Euclid Avenue and E. Douglas Avenue have been temporarily closed due to flash flooding…
