As fireworks sales surge ahead of July 4, San Antonio officials warn of risks

Americans are gearing up for one of the biggest Fourth of July celebrations in decades, pushing sales of fireworks to record levels as families plan to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary.

That means fires and burn injuries are also likely to rise.

“Consumer excitement heading into America’s 250th anniversary has been tremendous, with many retailers seeing shoppers coming in earlier than usual and specifically looking for patriotic products, especially red, white, and blue items,” said Stacy Schneitter Blake, president of the National Fireworks Association…
