Rockton businesses recover after storms roll through town

ROCKTON, Ill. (WIFR) – The sounds of chainsaws and generators roared through Rockton Friday after strong storms moved through the village, knocking down power poles, damaging homes and leaving businesses without power.

In downtown Rockton, several businesses dealt with power outages after the storm moved through.

Anna Pipitone, owner of La Croute Bakery Cafe, says the lights started flickering while she was in the middle of baking.

“And here we are, no power. It’s been about an hour and a half, no power. And we’ve been doing the best we could,” said Pipitone. “We’ve still been serving customers cash only, obviously, and just pastry products.”…
