Hot, sunny conditions for the 4th with elevated fire danger

The Inland Northwest is in the midst of a warming trend bringing high temperatures back above average on Independence Day. Much of Eastern Washington and North Idaho, including Spokane and Coeur d’Alene, will top out in the mid-80s. Highs in the LC Valley in Central Washington will peak in the 90s.

Abundant sun is expected through the day, but wind speeds pick up through the afternoon and evening. The hot dry and windy conditions will elevate fire danger with a Red Flag Warning in effect for the Upper Columbia Basin, Waterville Plateau, Okanogan Valley, and Southeastern Washington.
