A Ring Camera Caught Illegal Fireworks Exploding Right Under a Parked Car

This is one car that went out with a bang. A home security camera in Bakersfield caught the downside of illegal fireworks in one quick clip. The video shows one going off right underneath a parked car. There’s a flash, a bang, and a cloud of smoke. With the Fourth of July here, it’s a timely reminder. Illegal fireworks aren’t as harmless as they can look.

The clip came from a Ring-style doorbell camera. The black and white footage shows the firework detonating under the vehicle with glittering, shimmering splendor – for a few seconds, anyway. What the video doesn’t show is the aftermath, however. So it’s kind of unclear whether the car was damaged, or who set it off, or if there were additional explosions after the initial blast.

In Bakersfield, this is more than a one-off. The city and surrounding areas have been dealing with a flood of illegal fireworks every summer, especially around the Fourth of July. Nothing new there, as it’s obvious several areas end up having to handle the same problems. Past holidays have brought thousands of complaints, dozens of fires, and serious injuries — all because these illegal fireworks end up getting involved where they shouldn’t…
