ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s the Fourth of July, which brings fireworks, family fun, and good food. The City of Albuquerque’s Freedom Fourth event is holding its annual fireworks show at Balloon Fiesta Park. The event kicked off at 3 p.m., and as of 4 p.m., there were 3,000 people here, and the lots are filling up quickly.

“It is my first time here, I’m here with my family,” Lena Gonzales said. “I’ve been to the one at the Isotopes, but I thought this would be more fun with the vendors, music, and big field.”
Since 2003, the City of Albuquerque has held Freedom Fourth at Balloon Fiesta Park. It’s grown over the years, and usually attracts between 40,000 to 50,000 people. This year, they’re projecting even more, given that it’s America’s 250th anniversary. The city this year booked WAR only. Is this America’s 250th, but the centennial for Route 66,” City of Albuquerque Arts and Culture Department Manager Bree Ortiz said. “So WAR sings Low Rider, and here in Albuquerque, we have a lot of low riders. So to tie those two together in those two celebrations is something really special.”…
