The first strike in PECO’s 145-year history headed into its second day late Saturday as contract negotiations remained at a standstill, and union officials reported several alleged assaults involving striking workers.
About 1,600 linemen and other workers represented by IBEW Local 614 walked off the job at midnight after PECO and the union failed to reach a new contract agreement. Representatives for PECO said a federal mediator is now working with both sides in an effort to reach a resolution as high temperatures and storms could affect equipment and service.
