NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The Nashville Zoo is urging residents to attend the Metro Council Public Hearing this week.
The zoo is asking Nashvillians to urge the council to support these items:
- Suspension of the rules so that Mayor O’Connell’s acquisition and condemnation bill can be added to the agenda and passed on first reading
- Proposed legislation, BL2026-1391, which would establish important protections for data center development
- Temporary moratorium, BL2026-1448, so Metro has time to put those rules in place before projects move forward
This is the latest push from the Nashville Zoo to oppose a data center that was proposed to be built next to the zoo’s property. It launched a petition last month opposing the center as well.
DC Blox has maintained its position that the project is legally protected. An attorney for the company said last week, “This building is vested — we already have the petitions to build it there.”…
