Flash flood warning issued for Ottawa, Lucas counties

A flash flood warning was issued by the National Weather Service in Cleveland at 7:56 a.m. on Monday, July 6. This warning applies to Lucas and Ottawa counties.

The NWS warns: “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.”

At 8:58 a.m. EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1½ to 3 inches in one hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
