GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – A Guntersville veterinarian is asking for the public’s help identifying whoever abandoned a 2-year-old Great Dane outside a local clinic in extreme heat.
Dr. Martha Howard with Lake Guntersville Veterinary Services said the dog was left outside the clinic in a crate with no food or water. Howard said it would not have taken long for the dog to suffer heat stroke in the sweltering conditions.
Howard said the dog is now safe, but frightened and without a family.
“It’s heartbreaking to us when people abandon animals like this. It’s not fair to the animals. It’s not fair to us. These animals, they trust their owners,” Howard said. “When they are dumped like this, they are scared. They don’t know what’s going on.”…
